lincolntowncar.org - Special Edition Town Cars
The Lincoln Town Car of the nineties is a fantastic car right from the
factory. The many special editions make it that much better! These rare
cars usually have some unique luxury items--a vinyl roof, custom leather,
or a custom paint job are common changes. Here's a, admittedly,
incomplete list of special edition Town Cars. If you know of or own one I
don't have here, please let me know!
It's hard to say which ones are from the factory, but most are aftermarket
dealer packages to charge you more for the car. I broke the list up into
Factory Packages and Aftermarket Packages for editions that are known
(thanks to Frank!).
Factory Packages
- Jack Nicklaus Edition, 1992-1993
This edition seems to be a common one, at least in my area. Usually green
exterior and white leather interior with green cording. Carries the "Jack
Nicklaus Edition" wording and polar bear logo on the side of the car
behind the most rear side window. The roof is usually a vinyl top, in
white. Some of them have gold trim, including the hood ornament and all
Lincoln and Town Car logos.
- Spinnaker Edition, 1995
Some serious two-tone leather, blue and light tan it looks like.
Excellent pictures by Jason.
- Diamond Anniversary
Edition, 1996
My car is of this variety, so I can talk for hours about it. They only
came in burgundy (Cordovan) or silver (Silver Frost) for exterior colors.
The interior color is two-tone leather, the top being a light gray and
the bottom being light graphite. The car also comes with the Ride Control
Package with 16" wheels, heated front seats, real wood applique on the
dashboard and door control panels, electrochromatic mirrors, and the
memory seat with the power recliner and power lumbar support. It's base
package is the Signature with select featuress from the Cartier and a few
non-Cartier options. I'm still looking for a full spec sheet on what my
car has on it, so if anyone has information on this, please let me know!
There was also a Diamond Anniversay Edition Mark VIII and Continental!
- Cartier, 1976-2003
The Cartier was the high-end model designation from the 70's up until
2003. I classify it as a Special Edition now as even though the Town Car
still lives, the Cartier does not. Read our special article titled The History of The Cartier Edition.
Aftermarket Packages
- Jack Nicklaus Edition
If this edition was only available between 1992 and 1993 from the factory,
then other aftermarket versions were made, as I've seen a 1995 JN before.
White leather, green piping, green "JN" logo, green paint, white top, gold
trim.
- Presidential Edition
- La Panache Edition
One of my neighbors have this car, I haven't yet asked him what is special
about it. I know it has a vinyl roof with the La Panache logo behind
the rear most side window and the 16" spoke aluminum wheels, but can't
tell anything other then that from the outside. More to come on this one!
- Black Tie Edition
I saw this one at a stop light a week ago. It was black with a black
cloth roof with the words "Black Tie Edition" embriodered in white thread
on the side of the car behind the rear most side window. The interior
looked like it was black leather.
- Limited Edition Tournament Series
I saw this one at a local Lincoln dealer 1-3-2001. Looks like 1993 or 1994, green outside and
inside leather, with a white vinyl top. Also had the gold package. Very nice!
- Congressional Town Sedan
- Cypress Edition
- Presidential Town Sedan
